Hair Rings are a concern for any male chinchilla. Not just males in breeding. Every owner of a male chins should be familiar with how to do this and do it on a regular basis, to ensure the health of your chin.
Males need to be checked at a minimum monthly, some say every two weeks, for hair rings.
Hair rings occur when hair gets wrapped around the thingy, the hair tightens and cuts off circulation. This can be a life threatening situation.
